WorldEdit is a Bukkit plugin/mod created by sk89q and wizjany. It is used to edit maps. It can remove or add blocks in a box, cylinder or sphere. The mod is useful for terraforming and creating large structures. It can be used to create structures that would take hours to create in minutes.
Wand Usage
By default, to use WorldEdit to edit blocks, the player must use the command //wand
. A Wooden Axe will appear in the player's inventory; the wand texture can be changed on servers by editing the mod's configuration file.
Left-clicking a block with the wand will set the first position of the selection and right-clicking another block will set the second position. The player may also use //hpos1
and //hpos2
. Those commands will select the block the player is pointing at. Another alternative is //pos1
and //pos2
. This will set the position as the player's current coordinates when the command is executed.
Advanced Features
WorldEdit is also able to perform complex map changes, like regenerating regions, copy/cut/paste operations and run scripts (this requires Rhino to work, otherwise an error message will pop up instead) written on JavaScript to create more complex structures like spirals, mazes, and pixel art based on image files. Scripts can be used from the mod's built-in library or downloaded from the mod/plugin thread.
Restricted Blocks
There are certain block restrictions in WorldEdit, and below is a table of default restrictions. These can be edited by going to the following directory: <SERVER FOLDER>\plugins\WorldEdit\config.yml

Trivia
- Regenerating a selection with Lava source blocks and Glowstone will cause the point to stay lit as if the block was still there.
- WorldEdit can cause severe lag and crashes on servers if a player attempts to change too many blocks at once.
