Upgrade Speed is a category of upgrades added by Extra Utilities 2. They can be used in almost every machine from the mod. A single speed upgrade in a machine consumes 1 grid power. Additional speed upgrades in the same machine consume a gradually increasing amount of grid power.
There are 3 tiers of upgrades:
- The Upgrade Speed is the basic tier of upgrades. A maximum of 4 can be stacked in a machine, which will consume 4.38 grid power.
- The Upgrade Speed (Magical) is the second tier of upgrades. A maximum of 16 can be stacked in a machine, which will consume 23.62 grid power.
- The Upgrade Speed (Ultimate) is the last and most powerful tier of upgrades. A maximum of 64 can be stacked in a machine, which will consume 192 grid power.
Using speed upgrades will not cause the machine to consume any more or less RF per operation than what the machine originally required without upgrades. However, because the machine is working faster, the RF per tick consumed by the machine will also increase to match.
Each tier of upgrade provides the same increase to the machine's speed and consumes the same amount of grid power for the same stack size (4 Ultimate upgrades will consume 4.38 grid power - the same as 4 regular upgrades). As a result, it is only useful to craft higher tier upgrades if a larger stack size than a previous tier is required. For stack sizes not stated above, the grid power cost consumed by each speed upgrade can be estimated as consuming an additional 3.25% grid power per upgrade for each upgrade after the first. For example, if using 10 upgrades, each individual upgrade will consume around 1.2925 grid power (+29.25%, or 3.25% times 9) for a collective total of 12.925 grid power consumed (actual: 12.86).
