Journal entry Thumper
I need to think bigger. I've wasted my time working on manipulating small things like moving water or smashing rock...
No. I need to think on a grander scale. This is where the thumper comes in. The thumper is able to fracture the very earth itself, slowly eroding a ravine below it. This ravine won't be exposed to the surface, and the destroyed rock and ore will remain there, so I must find another way to collect the spoils.
Eventually, the thumper will slow and stop fracturing all together. It should then be moved.

The Thumper is a machine from Flaxbeard's Steam Power. It is the mod's automatic mining solution. Unlike most automatic miners, it does not output the drops. Instead, all dropped items and blocks will stay in the mine. Additionally, it does not create a square hole or a strip mine. When placed on the surface and supplied with steam, it will begin to repeatedly smash the ground, creating a large ravine underneath it. This process is very slow. As the ravine begins to grow, the machine may slow and cease to destroy blocks. It is at this point that the machine should be moved to a new location.

Pipes can be placed on any side except for the top, and Steam Gauges cannot be placed on any side of it.

It will only mine blocks that are classified as using grass, clay, rock, ground, or sand materials. Anything else will not be mined.
