The Thaumium Axe is a tool added by Thaumcraft 4. It has a bit more durability but about the same mining speed as the Iron Axe, however, it has a strong enchantability, like Gold. Additionally, it can be enchanted with Repair.
The Thaumium Axe is used to create the Axe of the Stream.

Thaumium is the result of infusing base metals with raw magical energy. The result is a metal harder than iron with the ability to accept enchantments beyond that which iron is normally capable of.
