— An older version of the official description[1] |
Tekkit Classic, originally called Tekkit, is a Technic modpack created by KakerMix and currently maintained by the Technic Team. It is a general kitchensink modpack with a combination of both industrial and magical mods. Tekkit was one of the earliest modpacks, and is today considered one of the most popular modpacks. It was originally released as a Bukkit-compatible replacement for Technic SMP; the name is a combination of the words "Technic" and "Bukkit".

Criticism[]
- KakerMix, the modpack author, did not originally ask the mod authors permission to distribute their mods. This later became an issue when SirSengir introduced malicious code to make the Vindictive Bee destroy blocks around it when the mod was in a "technic" folder. This was done in order to force the Technic Team to remove the mod, which they did. The offending code was later removed so users could individually add Forestry to the Tekkit modpack if they desired.
