Can we get a confirmation of that claim? Slaves should only be in range of a single controller for obvious reasons, but I don't see any issue with having multiple slaves in range of the same controller. From a brief scan of the slave and controller source code, there isn't any reason why a controller would have problems with any number of slaves greater than one.
