Actually, I think the Charcoal Pit is much more free-form than this page describes. It looks like it just checks for pillars of logs that extend downward, with a Brick Block at the bottom and dirt on all exposed sides. So the Brick floor isn't necessarily square, or even flat. --Codewarrior0 (talk) 21:04, 7 November 2016 (UTC)

- Did some testing and found out the Pit gives you an absurd amount of freedom. The only restrictions are that all logs must be within an 11x11x5 box centered below the Pile Igniter, all logs must be contiguously connected to the Pile Igniter, every log must have either a brick block or another log below it, and every log must be adjacent only to logs, bricks, dirt or grass, or the Igniter. I decided this description isn't very helpful when actually building the thing, so I went and wrote about a valid (and easy-to-build) subset of all possible charcoal pits instead. And then added some pictures for good measure. If anyone wants to try to work the "real" description in there, feel free. --Codewarrior0 (talk) 07:08, 8 November 2016 (UTC)
