Solar Smite is a Spell added by Roots. It is created with the base ingredient, a Sunflower, a Jack o'Lantern and Bone Meal. When cast, hit mobs will be inflicted with 5 + 2 * the potency damage (or 2.5 + the potency hearts). It will deal double the damage for undead mobs (like Skeletons and Zombies), set them on fire, and give them Weakness and Slowness effects.

A sunflower spends its entire life trying to absorb the sun's rays. Using the above recipe, you can tap into a bit of that stored sunlight, doing some damage to normal mobs, but dealing a massive amount of extra damage to undead monsters, as well as igniting them.
