The Sign is a technical block from FlatSigns. It is not normally obtainable in the game. It functions as a Sign placed flatly on the ground or ceiling.
Placing the block directly (not using a Vanilla Sign item) will always result in the block being placed on the ground, even if there is no ground for which to place it and/or there is a ceiling available. Unlike the Vanilla Sign, placing the block directly does not allow for setting its display text.
Breaking it will drop a vanilla Sign item.
