The Ritual of Gaia is a ritual added by Botania. It is used to summon the Gaia Guardian, a strong boss who can be much harder than the Wither to defeat. It is the only way to get Gaia Spirit.

The Ritual of Gaia

To perform this ritual, the player will need:

  Beacon
• 4
  Gaia Pylons
• 1
  Terrasteel Ingot
• 9
  Blocks of Iron

Notes:

• The Beacon does not have to be activated to perform the sacrifice nor does a Pyramid need to be built below it.
• The Pylons must be one level above the Beacon.
• The effect of a Beacon is interrupted when fighting the Gaia Guardian.

Although not shown in the image, the 9 iron blocks need to be placed in a 3x3 square directly below and centered on the beacon.

Once the structure has been built, put a Terrasteel Ingot into the Beacon by sneak-right clicking the former onto the latter to summon the Gaia Guardian.

Flight (except for creative mode flight and some rare cases of non-standard mod-added flight methods) is disabled during the ritual.

The Ritual of Gaia II

For a harder challenge, Gaia Spirit Ingot can be used as a sacrifice instead of Terrasteel Ingot. The resulting Guardian will be stronger; its strength, resistance, and speed will be increased, but the player can get more Gaia Spirits and rare artifacts.
