The Quartz Staff Core is a component added by Thaumcraft 5. It is used to create Staves- it can store 500 Vis. When the Ordo Vis in it drops below 50%, it will replenish, without drawing from the Aura.

Like the elemental wand cores, these stave cores are linked to a specific primal element which grants them additional abilities and slowly replenish their vis stores if they get low enough. They can store 500 vis of each type.
