The Open Sky Upgrade is an upgrade item added by Gendustry. When inserted into an Industrial Apiary, it will make the bees inside act as if they have unobstructed access to the sky. Only one of these upgrades can be inserted into an Industrial Apiary. It will increase the machine's energy consumption by 5%.
This upgrade is not needed if the bees in the Industrial Apiary have the Cave Dwelling trait as they will be able to function without needing to see the sky.
