The Nose is an armor piece added by Villager's Nose. It is worn in the head slot, providing no protection. When worn, it will indicate to the wearer when they are near an Emerald Ore or a Block of Emerald. It only works with vanilla Minecraft's Ore and Block. When the player is within range, which defaults at 3 blocks but can be set anywhere between 0 and 50 blocks in the configuration file, Villager sounds will play on the wearer's client and their nose model (only visible in third person) will move up and down.
The Nose is obtained by shearing a Villager. Most Shears work; however, some do not, like the Boline from Witchery.
It can be used to create the SuperNose 9000.
The Nose can be planted on tilled Farmland to grow a new Villager (not a Noseless Villager). Technically, the crop block is a tile.VillagersNose.villagerCrop.name block, but this is not shown anywhere outside of NEI. Villagers take by default 5000 ticks, but can be configured to take anywhere from 0 to 2,147,483,647 (two billion, one hundred forty-seven million, four hundred eighty-three thousand, six hundred forty-seven) ticks. Unless disabled in the configuration file, Bone Meal can be used to speed up the growing process of Nose crops. Breaking a growing Nose crop does not yield anything. Once fully grown, the Villager will simply turn into a proper Villager entity in the place of the crop.
