The Metal Barrel is a block added by Immersive Engineering. It is similar to the Wooden Barrel, except it can store "hot" and "gas" liquids.
The top/bottom side of the block has a certain configuration- no dot indicates no input or output, a blue dot indicates an input, and an orange dots indicates an output. Right-clicking the Metal Barrel with the Engineer's Hammer will change this configuration (shift-right-clicking will change the side opposite the player clicks).
