An MRE, which is the acronym for a Meal-Ready to Eat, is a food item added with the Official XNDUIW Mod. It's a type of field ration that can be crafted, or supplied by a kit or as a standard-issue item within a player's starting inventory in an army setting. It is considerably different from regular rations by virtue of being meat for minimal preparation in the field, using canned, vacuum-sealed, pre-cooked or freeze-dried foods, along with a long shelf life.

Such meals are essential for disaster or wartime relief, where large stocks of MRE's can be ferried and shared easily and provide basic support to victims before field kitchens can be set up to produce fresh food. Many current field rations have a Flameless ration heater to cook the meals, which are more practical and don't produce much flames.
