The Flood Gate is a machine added by BuildCraft; it takes fluids and dumps them into the world.

It will place fluids under and on all sides, but never higher than the Flood Gate itself. It fills in a 64-block radius.

The Flood Gate is open by default, and can be closed by a Redstone signal.

Internals

The block will scan about 64 blocks away horizontally for empty blocks to fill. If the scan doesn't find any blocks to fill, it will wait a specified amount of time and then scan again. The wait delay between scans will double every time it doesn't find anything, starting from 128 milliseconds and maxing out at 16384 milliseconds. The delay will reset to 128 milliseconds when a target is found or when the gate is toggled with a Redstone signal.

Usage examples

• With a Pump and a Flood Gate, it is possible to transfer a lake from one location to another.
• It is possible to allow fuel to be stored in a 'tank' made from any block.
