The Chemistry standardization project aims to overhaul and standardize new and existing pages relating to chemistry.

Scope

This project is for articles that are about:

And their corresponding categories:

Layout for articles

Name conflict hatnote

If the feature has a different name, add this to the very top:

{{About|NAME|the different name of the same TYPE|OTHER}}

If the feature has multiple different names, add this in addition to the above:

, OTHER2, OTHER3, ... , and OTHER.

Infobox

Use {{Infobox element}} for all chemistry articles. Go to the template page for usage documentation.

Lead section

The lead section (the section after the title but before the table of contents) is standardized as follows:

Article type Lead section (in raw wikitext)
Elements
'''ELEMENT''' is an element added by various mods.
Anti-elements
'''Anti-ELEMENT''' is the antimatter version of {{L|ELEMENT}} added by various mods.
Isotopes
'''ISOTOPE''' is an isotope of {{L|ELEMENT}} added by various mods.
Compounds
'''COMPOUND''' is a compound added by various mods.

Additional material information may be added after the linking verb, but must be before the standardized form above. For example:

'''ELEMENT''' is a metal and an element added by various mods.

Additional general supporting information may be added at the next paragraph.

Body

After the lead section (and the table of contents), the body is standardized as a series of level 2 headings per mod in alphabetical order:

== MOD NAME ==
{{Added by{{L}}|MOD NAME}}
{{Main{{L}}| ... }} <!-- if applicable -->
{{See also{{L}}| ... }} <!-- if applicable -->
<!-- message boxes here if applicable -->

<!-- details here -->

If the article feature is also in Vanilla Minecraft, the Vanilla heading must be the first before all other mod headings:

== Vanilla ==
{{Added by{{L}}|Vanilla|mod=Minecraft}}
{{Main{{L}}|mcw:MINECRAFT WIKI ARTICLE NAME|l1=PAGE NAME}} on the Minecraft Wiki

See also appendix

The See also level 2 heading section must be shown and is standardized as follows:

Article type See also list (in raw wikitext) (prepend with == See also ==)
Elements
* {{L|:Category:Isotopes of ELEMENT|List of ELEMENT isotopes}}
* {{L|:Category:Compounds containing ELEMENT|List of compounds containing ELEMENT}}
* {{L|Anti-ELEMENT}}
Anti-elements ELEMENT referring to the base element name, not the anti-element name
* {{L|:Category:Isotopes of ELEMENT|List of ELEMENT isotopes}}
* {{L|:Category:Compounds containing ELEMENT|List of compounds containing ELEMENT}}
Isotopes <element> referring to the base element name, not the isotope name
* {{L|:Category:Isotopes of ELEMENT|List of ELEMENT isotopes}}
* {{L|:Category:Compounds containing ELEMENT|List of compounds containing ELEMENT}}
* {{L|Anti-ELEMENT}}
* {{L|Anti-ISOTOPE}} <!-- if applicable-->
Compounds Same as in Elements but for each element in the compound.

If other categories of See also link lists are added, segregate the standardized lists above in a level 3 heading called Elemental composition, then add the other link lists in their own level 3 headings. (eg. Water#See_also)

Footer

The footer (below the See also section) is standardized as follows:

{{ Navbox Periodic Table{{L}} }} <!-- only for element and anti-element articles -->
{{ Navbox Materials{{L}} }}

<!-- additional categories if applicable -->
<languages/>

Layout for categories

Categories are standardized as follows:

Article type Category name (auto-categorized by {{Infobox element}}) Layout (in raw wikitext)
Elements Category:ELEMENT
{{Category element||ELEMENT}}
Anti-elements Categorized in the Elements category
Isotopes Category:Isotopes of ELEMENT
{{Category element|isotope|ELEMENT}}
Compounds Category:Compounds containing ELEMENT
{{Category element|compound|ELEMENT}}

AutoHotKey scripts

Several AutoHotKey scripts have been created to semi-automate some parts of the layout. See Feed The Beast Wiki:AutoHotKey for more information.

FAQs

What if an article/category doesn't exist?

Create the article/category following the layout above!

What if the feature has only one mod?

Still follow the layout. Chances are that the feature will get added or extended by another mod in the future (or there is already another mod that hasn't been documented yet in the wiki), especially if it exists in real life.

What if a category only has one member?

The category will continue to be populated as more and more pages get added and standardized.
