Russian translation being moved to Minecraft Wiki?[]

I once requested to add an interwiki prefix on Russian Minecraft Wiki that leads to this wiki. It was met with an oppose by GreenStone, stating:

I strongly disagree with moving articles about modification on 3rd-party wikis and I won’t let do this no matter what. I think that all mods should be documented on a single place, which will be the official one. I request a replacement for cooperation with FTB Wiki, that is to tell [this wiki] and English Minecraft Wiki that we should be the only official Russian-language wiki about all topics regarding Minecraft, including mods. And I have reasons to insist on keeping the official status.

This means that the Russian translation project might be merged with Russian Minecraft Wiki.

We need a discussion on whether we should keep the translation project or merge it with that wiki.

I'd prefer if we continued to simply allow pages on this wiki to be translated into any language. If Russian translators want to translate pages here, they are free to do so. If they would rather write Russian articles on the Russian Minecraft wiki, they are free to do so. Due to our setup of templates and extensions, this wiki is specifically designed to handle the massive complexity added by mods, so why people wouldn't want to take advantage of it is beyond me. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 16:55, 24 January 2015 (UTC)
This strikes me as a rather hostile and uncooperative attitude. If the Russian Minecraft wiki wants to maintain their own mod pages, that's fine by me, but I don't think they have any right to say that FTB shouldn't be allowed to have a Russian translation. -- Orthotopetalk (mcw admin) 19:39, 24 January 2015 (UTC)

"Script errors" all over wiki for non-logged in users[]

I was originally going to report this as a bug, but then I noticed that the top box says the following:

Please make sure you are logged in when viewing the wiki otherwise you will see script errors everywhere.

Is this intentional? If not, when is a fix expected for this issue? I have noticed a lot of pages are broken for anonymous users because of this (as sampled from Special:RandomPage):

This is due to an issue with the configuration of the FlaggedRevs extension. We are working with Curse to get this issue fixed as soon as possible. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 23:25, 5 March 2015 (UTC)
This should be handled now. PaladinAHOne Staff (talk) 22:43, 6 March 2015 (UTC)

"FTBwiki.org?"[]

should we be using ftbwiki.org? it's much more complete

Anyone is free to use either wiki. Whereas http://ftbwiki.org is a more complete one, this wiki is the official one: it was founded by FTB team as http://wiki.feed-the-beast.com and since then merged with Gamepedia. — NickTheRed37 t/c FTBWiki Translator 06:29, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
Either wiki is usable. This one was formed by FTB staff members and originally written primarily by either FTB-appointed or mod author-appointed staff members. ftbwiki.org was originally created by the fanbase / playerbase and is still written and operated by them. Until about 8 months ago, this wiki was also hosted on an FTB server, until the decision was made to transfer to Gamepedia servers which, while less under our control, were significantly more stable. (It was also this move that prompted me to join the team, as server stability was the barrier between me and continuing the job I started two years ago with the now defunct GregTech Community Wiki.)
Personally, I like a few of the aesthetics of the unofficial wiki better (dark theme in stead of light theme), but I'm pretty sure under-the-hood we have better templates to work with. (Also this loads smoother.) -PaladinAHOne Staff (talk) 08:16, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
Nay on aesthetics, I don't want to squint to read. Although, is it possible for this wiki to have multiple skins? -Xbony2 (talk) 11:45, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
It is possible to have multiple skins. It's just that nobody bothered writing another skin. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 16:09, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
Oh, and @ the IP dude, we will catch up with the other wiki, at least in amount of articles, sooner rather then later ;) -Xbony2 (talk) 11:47, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
I have found ftbwiki.org has more of a general covering, meanwhile the articles here tend to be more up to date (thus most new blocks/items are only here), though for a few mods coverage is better on one or the other. I also overall prefer the light theme here, as I have never much liked dark themes for sites.KnightMiner t/c 22:18, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Adding new mods[]

What exactly is the rule related to adding new mods here? I recall reading a brief summary of the rule being "as long as you don't make the mod yourself", but I cannot seem to find it anywhere. To be more specific, I want to add coverage for Tinkers' Steelworks, specifically the 1.7.10 fork made by ephys (the fork is allowed under the license of the original Tinkers' Steelworks for those wondering).

(On a slightly related topic, a CurseForge interwiki would be useful, since most mods have a download hosted there). KnightMiner t/c 22:18, 25 October 2015 (UTC)

Add whatever mod you want kiddo :P
In the past, it was restricted to mods that are in FTB packs, but that changed a long time ago. Wiki Staff is suppose to focus on FTB-mods, but nobody cares too much. -Xbony2, Master of Feed The Beast Wiki (talk) 00:05, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
to be more specific: normal users can accurately document any mod they wish. Developers can document any mod they make, regardless of if it is in ftb. Staff can document any mod in ftb or listed 3rd party packs, as well as any mod they develop. -- SatanicSantaFTB Wiki Admin 17:15, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
What exactly qualifies someone as staff? Is it the user group or is that a separate thing?
Also, is there a way I can get the user right for the tilesheets? If not, where is a good place for me to post the textures for someone to add them? KnightMiner t/c 20:41, 26 October 2015 (UTC)
For tilesheets, follow the procedure described here. Staff is a user group of people that are proficient with mediawiki and our system of templates and the various guidelines and can be trusted with the responsibility of maintaining the wiki. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 20:57, 26 October 2015 (UTC)

Animating through multiple oreDicts[]

Is there an easy way to animate through multiple oreDict entries, or will I have to write a new template to do that? The reason I'm wondering is because the High Oven supports five different ore dictionary entries for the oxidizer, and four for the reducer, thus running it as multiple slides (or whatever the arrows on the bottom are called...) would be inaccurate as any from either list can be used, and just using multiple tables would have way to many combinations. KnightMiner t/c 21:40, 1 November 2015 (UTC)

🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 23:41, 1 November 2015 (UTC)
Thanks, that worked. I hope you don't mind that I modified the template to not require setting "no-anim" each time by passing along a variable. KnightMiner t/c 00:15, 2 November 2015 (UTC)

Mod added recipes for vanilla items[]

Tinkers' Steelworks adds a High Oven recipe for Nether Quartz and Tinkers' Construct adds recipes for End Stone. I am wondering if adding a section for mod added recipes on vanilla items is fine, or if it is advised to be added to a different article. KnightMiner t/c 03:01, 3 November 2015 (UTC)

In my opinion mod added recipes for a vanilla item should appear on the article for that vanilla item. 🐇Retep998🐇🐰Bunny Overlord🐰 12:05, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
Like on Raw Fish? It's been talked about a good bit, and I do agree it would be appropriate. -Xbony2, Master of Feed The Beast Wiki (talk) 12:18, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
I agree. I think it would give a purpose to not just redirect to the mcw on all vanilla pages -- SatanicSantaFTB Wiki Admin 17:08, 3 November 2015 (UTC)
