The Crusher is a machine added by Mekanism and grinds solid materials into dusts. However, it does not double ores. It is used primarily for two tasks: producing Bio Fuel and being an important part of the tier 2, 3 and 4 ore-processing system (see below).

The Crusher is also used as a component in crafting the Basic Crushing Factory and its more advanced versions, which can perform multiple operations in parallel.

Usage[]

Mekanism OreProcessing Tier2

Picture 1: A Crusher (third from left) in a tier 2 ore-processing system. Basic Logistical Transporters for transporting items from machine to machine. Energy supply via Basic Universal Cable at the back.

Energy supply[]

The Crusher requires energy to operate, which can be supplied by placing a generator or energy storage next to it, or through cables (shown in picture 1). In addition to the machines from Mekanism, the generators, energy storages and cables of all supported power systems (IndustrialCraft 2, Thermal Dynamics, BuildCraft and Tesla) can be used to supply it. If no external energy supply is available, than the machine can be supplied via portable energy storage cells, like the Basic Energy Cube or RE-Battery, which can be inserted in the energy slot in the GUI.

Ore-Processing[]

The Crusher is not needed in a tier 1 ore-processing system.

In case of tier 2, 3 and 4 the Crusher takes clumps from the Purification Chamber and produces dirty dust, which can be purified in the Enrichment Chamber (shown in picture 1). A complete overview can be found onMekanism Ore Processing.

Bio Fuel-production[]

The Crusher produces Bio Fuel out of various organic matter, e.g. Saplings. Bio Fuel can be used for power generation via the Bio-Generator.

GUI[]

Mekanism EnrichmentChamber GUI

Picture 2: The GUI of the Crusher looks the same as of the Enrichment Chamber.

Right-clicking on the machine opens its GUI (shown in picture 2).

Slots[]

  • The red slot is the input slot for the material to be enriched.
  • The product appears in the blue slot.
  • The green slot and the vertical meter on the right side accepts charged portable power sources (such as a Basic Energy Cube or RE-Battery) and displays the current energy in the machine respectively. Portable sources are only needed if there is no external energy supply.

Side-buttons[]

  • The upper-left button (called "Side Config") opens the configuration of the machine, where the player can set which side should receive energy as well as receive or emits items. If a side is disabled, no cable connects on this side. In order for the machine to transfer its products to a pipe system or an adjacent machine, "Auto Eject" must be enabled and/or the pipe must be in Pull mode. If the player holds the Configurator in their hand, the cube displays a color code on the side the player is looking at. Grey means "Off", green means "Input energy", red means "Input item" and blue means "Output item". Shift right-clicking on a side with the Configurator changes the configuration of each side.
  • The middle-left button (called "Transporter Config") opens a GUI which allows the player to define specific rules for routing items if logistical transporters are connected.
  • The upper-right button opens the upgrade GUI. Upgrades can be added here, such as the Energy Upgrade to improve energy efficiency. Further installable upgrades are the Speed and Muffling Upgrade.
  • The middle-right button opens the GUI to configure the access rights for the machine.
  • The lower-right button changes the behavior to Redstone:
    • "High" = operates only if a signal is received
    • "Low" = operates only if no signal is received
    • "Disabled" = operates independent of receiving signals
