The Crescent Hammer is a tool added by Thermal Expansion 4. It can be used to configure or rotate blocks if they support said actions this includes Chests, Machines and many more. If you are sneaking and right click the hammer will try to destroy the block instantly dropping it with items and energy still stored inside.
Most blocks in Thermal Expansion 4 and Thermal Dynamics support the sneaking and right click functionality.
