Fuel Efficiency
If you saw up all your logs and burn the planks and sawdust as fuel, instead of cooking them directly into charcoal, you actually get about 26.8% more fuel.
8 Logs in a powered furnace: 8 fuel used. 8 charcoal produced, worth 8 fuel units each, for a total of 64 fuel units. Net gain: 56 fuel (7 per log).
8 Logs in a sawmill: 9 fuel used (8 for sawing, plus 1 because you still need to cook the compressed sawdust). 48 planks (worth 1.5 fuel each) and 1 charcoal (worth 8) produced, for a total of 80 fuel units. Net gain: 71 fuel (8.875 per log).
71 / 56 ~= 1.268 = 126.8%
