Clock Timer Quartz Gates

The Clock Timer Quartz Gates are items added by BuildCraft and are a specific design of the Basic Gate to control and/or interact with all pipes of BuildCraft via four configurable functions, but has additional options for precondition and action. The clock timer design has three additional options available to start a function at specific intervals (see Usage). The gate has also an AND and OR version.

BuildCraft Gates and Pipe Wire and Structure Pipe

A Quartz AND Gate interacts with all four types of Pipe Wire to transmit redstone signals. Pipe Wires on different pipe types can be connected via Cobblestone Structure Pipe.

The Clock Timer Quartz Gate can be placed on all types and sides of the BuildCraft pipes with a right-click. By holding the crouch-key and right-clicking the gate can be removed without to destroy the pipe.

Note: The basic function is that the gate checks the precondition in the right slot, and, if this precondition is true, executes the option in the left slots. The bar between the left and right slot light up red when the precondition is currently True. The difference between the AND and the OR version is when it will trigger an action. Both will trigger if one precondition is true, but if the AND version is used, and two or more conditions are set to trigger the same action, the action will only trigger when both preconditions are True. If the OR version is used and two or more preconditions are set to the same action, the action will trigger when either of the preconditions is True. The different to the Standard design is, that the clock timer design has three additional preconditions for all pipes to start a function at specific intervals of 5, 10 or 15 seconds (yellow marked in the table below).

With a right-click the player can open the GUI, which has four rows, each having four slots, to configure functions. All slots can be configurated by clicking in the slot. The possible options depends on the pipe where the gate was mounted:

  • All options like the standard Gate (goto)
  • Additional options of the Clock Timer Gates (goto)
  • Additional options of the Quartz Gates to interact with pipes and storage (see below)
  • Furthermore the Clock Timer Quartz Gate has the ability to interact with Blue and Green Pipe Wire (in addition to Red Pipe Wire) to transmit and/or receive redstone signals over the BuildCraft own wire system. An example with a Diamond AND Gate is shown in the picture, but it is the same except that the Quartz Gate can only interact with the Red, Blue and Green Pipe Wire. In the GUI the corresponding option is selectable if a pipe wire is connected to the gate (see section Additional options for pipe wire interaction)
