In 1.19 it is possible to grow certus quartz in order to have a more reliable supply compared to mining it. The crystals will grow on the budding quartz block in the manner of plant.
Warning ⚠️: DO NOT mine flawless budding certus quartz blocks with any pickaxe including silk. ONLY use methods such as boxes (Mekanism) that do not break the block
Crafting Method[]
You will need to obtain 1 certus quartz block and some Certus crystals. Blocks can be converted into crystals through crafting table/area and vice versa.
- Charge a certus quartz crystal in a charger (AE2)
- Drop the block and charged crystal into a puddle of water and wait. The crystal will merge with the block resulting in a damaged budding certus block
- Repeat steps 1 and 2 with the damaged budding block to make a chipped budding certus block
- And again to turn it into a flawed budding block
Note that a flawed budding certus block can grow crystals. However, it will wear down over time.
A flawless budding certus block usually cannot be made but instead must be found in a meteor and collected with boxes (Mekanism), or similar method. Silk touch will not work for this. However, in some packs (such as modded skyblock) it can be made by putting the flawed version into an enrichment chamber.
Place the budding certus block and wait.
