The Blast Furnace is a multiblock structure added by Railcraft. This structure is used to turn Iron into Steel. The Blast Furnace will only take Coal Coke and Charcoal as fuels, requiring 1 Coal Coke per ingot, or 4 Charcoal per ingot.
Construction
To build the structure, 34 Blast Furnace Bricks are required. It is built by placing the bricks in a 3x3x4 with a hollow middle. Once assembled correctly the Blast Furnace will have a window on the bottom-middle of each side. When it is active, it will contain lava in the middle; breaking it at this time will spill the lava out.
Blast Furnaces cannot be built directly adjacent to one another; there must be a gap between them, or other non-Blast Furnace Brick blocks. It can be built directly adjacent to other multiblock structures, such as the Coke Oven.
