Aspects are a mechanic added by Thaumcraft 6. They are traits representing various properties and relations of the object. Most items and mobs have aspects assigned: items smelted in an Essentia Smeltery turn into Essentia of those aspects, and monsters killed with a weapon enchanted with Essence Harvester drop Vis Crystals of those aspects.
Aspects are listed in the Thaumonomicon in a side entry on the left side. For an aspect to appear there, at least one source of that aspect must be scanned with a Thaumometer.
Essentia of a compound aspect can be processed in an Essentia Centrifuge into its components.
